prepared

Two large earthquakes of June 2000. Fault planes and aftershocks of the two large earthquakes of June 17 and 21 2000.

PREPARED is an EU 5th framework project.

The proposal full name is "Application of practical experience gained from two recent large earthquakes in the South Iceland seismic zone in the context of earthquake prediction research to develop technology for improving preparedness and mitigating risk".

See e.g. this for background information. View current seismicity of the Southern Iceland Seismic Zone here, that for all of Iceland here.

I am the principal investigator of work package 2.1 "Pattern search in seismic data".

The project officially started on Feb. 1, 2003!

From February 24. - 26. we had a kick-off meeting in Reykjavik. See photos below.
There is now a project web page where you can find details such as workpackage descriptions, list of participants etc. This site will be updated regularly.

Christoph Sens-Schoenfelder will join my project officially from January 2004. He recently finished his diploma in Leipzig, working on
seismicity in Iceland. An ideal fit! Expect news soon!
